Our Brand

Learn more about the logo, mascot character, and unique spelling of Trapezeum with this quick summary.

Trapezeum is the name of the nonprofit organization that has been established to bring a children’s museum to Sarnia.

Our vision is to “provide children and their families extraordinary hands-on learning experiences in a distinctly child centered environment. We create activities across the arts, sciences, and humanities that have the power to transform the lives of children and families. We provide a safe, clean, friendly, fun, efficient, and engaging visitor experience that is affordable and accessible.”

The Trapezeum logo features a friendly alien character named Zee inside a trapezium. In Canada, this shape is referred to as a trapezoid. As a child, our founder always imagined an alien from the planet zoid trapped inside the shape. This is an image that never left him. He knew that it had to be the name and logo of this endeavor. The polygon is left open in the top corner to show that the mascot is not trapped at all. He is happy and free.

We deliberately spelled “Trapezeum” wrong to have symmetry with the word “Museum” and to help create a unique brand.

We are actively seeking to build a board of directors. We need a minimum of three directors to get started but would like to have nine. Having an odd number of board members is ideal so we can avoid any split decisions.

Our founder and CEO, Kevin Wilson, is a licensed and experienced teacher with a Masters of Library and Information Science, a Bachelor of Education, and a Bachelor of Arts. He is passionate about providing quality learning experiences for children.

Trapezeum will start with pop-up installations at a variety of locations across the city and region. This will help us build awareness, seek input from our users, and revise our plans to help serve the needs of the community.

In our business plan, we looked closely at the Flint Children’s Museum. It is an incredible asset to its community and has been in operation for years. It also has a similar population to Sarnia so it made sense to draw comparisons.

We will be seeking corporate sponsors, grants, and various fundraising strategies to raise the money we need to get started. The first goal is to raise $30,000 for the mobile version of our children’s museum.
